Greensboro Sit-in
The sit-in was a movement that involved non-violent protests for the United States fighting for their civil rights which occurred in 1960 between 1st February and 25th July same year. It involved whites only. The sit-in was based in Greensboro, North Carolina that influenced The F.W. Woolworth Company to terminate the racial segregation policy in the Southern States.
Today, 70,000 people participate in the sit-in movement which was a result of the very first that occurred. It also participated in the establishment of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee(SNCC). Additionally, the sit-in movement led to the desegregation of lunch counters for the City businesses. Moreover, The Student Executive Committee for Justice formation is also a result of the sit-in movement.
