Deborah Dubois Barry Seal
Barry Seal is a well-known drug smuggler. His life was enacted in the movie American Made. In the movie, Seal’s first encounter with stealing drugs was in 1980 after he was kidnapped while refueling his plane in Colombia. In the movie, his abductors take him to a hidden airstrip in the Colombian jungle where 3 businessmen, including Pablo Escobar, make him an offer he can not refuse.
Angered that he has lost his pension and healthcare, he agrees to the idea of making $2,000 per kilo of cocaine trafficked into the United States. However, Seal’s widow, Deborah Seal, says that her husband started drug trafficking in 1975, first centering mainly on marijuana. Seal’s Drug Enforcement Administration file also supports this, perceiving that he was smuggling marijuana as early as 1976, then adding cocaine in 1978.
